A Fort Myers restaurant called after their Heatcraft walk-in cooler started warming up during prep. Product temps were creeping into the danger zone and the unit was running nonstop.

Diagnosing the problem

On arrival we performed a full commercial refrigeration diagnostic. We found:

 
• Heavy ice buildup on the evaporator coil restricting airflow
 
• Defrost timer stuck mid-cycle, so the coil never cleared
